Zeit der Legenden (Time of Legends)

Dragons, humans and the legends that will one day shape Alradach, land of dragons (aka the world of Drachenfest). Zeit der Legenden (Time of Legends) is an offshoot high fantasy medieval LARP of Germany’s Drachenfest – one of the biggest LARPs in the world. And, you’re basically living the legends that shaped Aldarach. But be careful, what you do here might echo in time to affect the next main Drachenfest event. Only at Zeit der Legenden.

Empire LRP – Spring Equinox
Buckinghamshire UK, 9–11 June 2023
Possibly the biggest and best-known of all the LARPs in June, if not the world, then at least the UK. Empire LRP is a festival LARP happening four times a year and drawing in an amazing crowd of players from all around. The 9 distinct cultures that make up the world of Empire are constantly vying for power – hence the skirmishes – while high mages converse with the Eternals from the 6 adjourning panes of existence to try and get their homestead the upper hand. All whilst the Empire is under near-constant attack from barbarian Orcs. Who will rule Empire LRP?

Chicago Alliance LARP
Illinois US, 9–11 June 2023
LARPs with chapter hopping! Set in the medieval fantasy world of Fortanni, with oathsworn, dryads, dwarves, elves, ogres, orcs and more, this is an event of the Chicago chapter of the multi-chapter LARP guild, Alliance. Complete with character creation, high-action battle or quiet merchant life – play as you choose – and fairly traditional RPG rules and gameplay. But what sets it apart is chapter-hopping: Alliance has over 11 chapters around the US and Canada, and you’re allowed to port your character to any other Alliance event.

Laire LARP
New Jersey US, 16–18 June 2023
Probably the No 1 reason to try LARPing and one of the best-known US LARPs in June. Set around the city of Avalon in Midlantia, Laire is a monthly multi-day LARP in a high fantasy setting (swords, elves, dwarves), that’s built pretty close to traditional role-play rules. Legacies LARP

All types are welcome in Fortnight, a fantasy-Medieval town that attracts a populace of misfits and would-be heroes. Characters seek to prove themselves, find fortune, battle the evils of the land, or just make some really entertaining friends at weekend-long, monthly Legacies LARP events.

Drachenfest US

5 Camps. 6 Guilds. 1 Drachenfest US. Yes, after a pretty successful first year, Drachenfest US is back for a full week of dragon-egg warfare – most anticipated among the LARPs in June 2023. As the name suggests, it’s the US version of Drachenfest (one of the biggest and most popular LARPs in the world) but it has its own flavour and unique appeal – check this awesome review for details. Goblins, orcs, nomads and elves. Age of Essence is a unique UK LARP in that it is 1-day and family-friendly – everyone is welcome. Combat is safe, both physical and magical, and the game rules are pretty straightforward, so anyone can jump in and have fun. There are monthly LARPs, and, if you just want to check it out, you can play a monster for free at Age of Essence.

Fractured

Using the good-ole Forest of Doors system (Atlanta), Fractured is a Georgia/Tennessee-based LARP featuring a world where a metaphysical calamity has caused bleed-through from multiple dimensions/realms into the terrestrial, causing the emergence of all kinds of unique creatures and characters with awesome abilities and powers. With multiple homeworlds, endless character types, magic and abilities, it’s an awesome multi-day LARP at Fractured.

Orion Sphere LRP
Bristol UK, 30 June–2 July 2023
4 Factions. 22 Species. Untold worlds to explore. One of the most unique LARPs in June – if only because sci-fi LARPs are so rare. Orion Sphere is a multi-day, multi-element LARP set 10 000 years in the future. There’s planet-based play (where you’re all on a world, usually a wooded area like a normal LARP), but then there are also starship simulation rooms, with incredibly cool space flight and battle simulators and the works. Ohm and yes, you get to play as aliens, too, at Orion Sphere LRP.

What is LARPing?
A LARP is a “Live-Action Role-Play” game, which is kinda like a normal RPG (Role-Playing Game) but played out in real life – you actually go camping, dress up, have battles, make decisions and advance through a story like D&D in live action. Check out the full exploration of LARPing meaning.
