Using the good-ole Forest of Doors system (Atlanta), Fractured is a Georgia/Tennessee-based LARP featuring a world where a metaphysical calamity has caused bleed-through from multiple dimensions/realms into the terrestrial, causing the emergence of all kinds of unique creatures and characters with awesome abilities and powers. With multiple homeworlds, endless character types, magic and abilities, it’s an awesome multi-day Fractured LARP.

Orion Sphere LRP
Warwickshire UK, 6–8 October 2023
4 Factions. 22 Species. Untold worlds to explore. One of the most unique LARPs in June – if only because sci-fi LARPs are so rare. Orion Sphere is a multi-day, multi-element LARP set 10 000 years in the future. There’s planet-based play (where you’re all on a world, usually a wooded area like a normal LARP), but then there are also starship simulation rooms, with incredibly cool space flight and battle simulators and the works. Ohm and yes, you get to play as aliens, too, at Orion Sphere LRP.

Denver Alliance LARP
Colorado US, 6–8 October 2023
LARPs with chapter hopping! Set in the medieval fantasy world of Fortannis, with oathsworn, dryads, dwarves, elves, ogres, orcs and more, this is an event of the Denver chapter of the multi-chapter LARP guild, Alliance. Complete with character creation, high-actin battle or quiet merchant life – play as you choose – and fairly traditional RPG rules and gameplay. But what sets it apart is chapter-hopping: Alliance has over 11 chapters around the US and Canada, and you’re allowed to port your character to any other Alliance event.

Laire LARP

Probably the No 1 reason to try LARPing and one of the best-known US LARPs. Set around the city of Avalon in Midlantia, Laire is a monthly multi-day LARP in a high fantasy setting (swords, elves, dwarves), that’s built pretty close to traditional role-play rules. Alliance Crossroads (XR)

Possibly the best-known and loved chapter if Alliance LARP, Alliance Crossroads is the Tennessee chapter of this high-fantasy LARP with chapter-hoping across the US and Canada. A recent new element of the campaign is a growing dark power from within the Wyldes of Kosmara. There are monsters everywhere, and nearby settlements risk losing everything. The call has sounded throughout Fortannis; you are summoned to help before the Wyldes are lost forever at Alliance Crossroads.

The Zone: Near-Future Sci-Fi LARP

Following a devastating nuclear explosion in the UK, an exclusion zone is established where raiders, freelancers and unscrupulous companies have set up a fledgling economy. Age Of Essence

Goblins, orcs, nomads and elves. Age of Essence is a unique UK LARP in that it is 1-day and family-friendly – everyone is welcome. Combat is safe, both physical and magical, and the game rules are pretty straightforward, so anyone can jump in and have fun. There are monthly LARPs, and, if you just want to check it out, you can play a monster for free at Age of Essence.
